Halfday LISBON CITY TOUR (AM & PM) EUR 34,00 Visit Belém quarter, where you will find the most beautiful and historical monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. A brief stop at the Belém Tower - world heritage by UNESCO (Torre de Belém), point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations, such as on the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the “death“ of Prince Henry the Navigator. Then we visit the church of S. Jerome Monastery - world heritage by UNESCO (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) a masterpiece of the “Manueline” style and the Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches) with one of the most important collection of old carriages in the world, (both closed on Mondays, replaced by the visit of Ajuda Palace. Along the river we arrive at Alfama, an old and traditional district, where we have the opportunity to walk in its narrow streets, and visit a handicraft shop. We will pass by the downtown (Baixa) to admire the most important squares of Lisbon such as the monumental Trade Square (Praça do Comércio); Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon and the symbolic Restauradores Square. Then we drive along the Liberdade Avenue the “boulevard” of Lisbon to finish at Pombal Square with the statue of the statesman from the 18th century responsible for Lisbon reconstruction after one of the most deadliest earthquakes in History, the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. Halfday SINTRA, ESTORIL & CAPE ROCA (PM) EUR 57,00 For an unforgettable afternoon, we leave in direction to the village of Sintra (Cultural Landscape by UNESCO), to visit the Royal Palace, a charming spot where the Portuguese Royal Families spent long summers, and where the rich collection of glazed tiles (azulejos) and the two conical chimneys of the kitchen’s palace are the “ex- libris” of Sintra. It‘s also possible to taste the delicious local sweets in the tea-rooms; “queijadas” and “travesseiros”. Then we will drive through Sintra’s range where its luxuriant and exuberant vegetation is to be seen, arriving at Roca cape (Cabo da Roca), the westernmost point in continental Europe. Along the coast, passing by Guincho beach, spot of windsurfers, Boca do Inferno a grotto created by the sea erosion, always with a sea view enjoying the landscape until the cosmopolitan Cascais where we take a glimpse over the bay. We return by Estoril where we can have a panoramic view of the Casino and its gardens. Return back to Lisbon. This tour only operates in the afternoon. Languages: |
